Here are some events happening at the Log House Museum:

The Log House museum is participating in the WS G-Sale day May 9th. All proceeds from the Courtyard sale at the LHM benefits the operation of the Museum 9am to 4pm 3003-61st Ave. SW.

Tuesday, May 5, 7 p.m. at the Log House Museum, Alan Stein and Paula Becker of HistoryLink will present a slide show and talk based on their forthcoming book, The Alaska/Yukon/Pacific Exposition. One hundred years later, hear how Seattle celebrated its coming-of-age with a world’s fair on the grounds of the University of Washington.
Event is free but donations are always gratefully accepted.

Tuesday, June 2, 7 p.m. at the Log House Museum, Joan Hockaday talks on “The Olmsted Legacy in West Seattle” from her new book, Greenscapes, Olmsted’s Pacific Northwest (WSU Press 2009). Hockaday is a gardener historian who researched the Schmitz family and West Seattle connection in the archives of the Log House Museum. Frederick Law Olmsted traveled to Seattle to design the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition and offered his advice to the Parks Board, including Federdinand Schmitz.
